Only a few days after MTU Maintenance Zhuhai's announcement regarding the creation of a new engine shop in the Jinwan district (read the article: MTU Maintenance set to expand again in China for Pratt & Whitney's GTF), Pratt & Whitney has just formalized the fact that the joint venture of MTU Aero Engines and China Southern will indeed be a member of the GTF support network and in particular for its PW1100G-JM engine (Airbus A320neo family).
MTU Maintenance Zhuhai will indeed have full capabilities (dismantling, assembly and testing) for the GTF from mid-2021, while the new Jinwan facility will only be operational in 2024.
The Chinese subsidiary of MTU estimates the volume at a thousand engine shop visits in the next ten years.
MTU Maintenance Zhuhai will become the second facility in China and fifth in Asia supporting GTF MRO work, alongside AMECO in China, Pratt & Whitney's Eagle Services Asia (ESA) in Singapore, as well as IHI and MHIAEL in Japan. |
