Fokker Techniek redelivered an Airbus A330 aircraft to Air Europa after a base maintenance check in its Woensdrecht MRO and Completion Center. This was the first major maintenance project for a widebody aircraft for this subsidiary of GKN Aerospace.
The aircraft, an A330-200 (MSN 526, EC-LQP, Trent 700) arrived at Woensdrecht on October 15th. This first major check was made respecting the TAT promised to Air Europa.
The Spanish airline had already awarded Fokker Techniek heavy maintenance projects for its Boeing 737NG fleet. The GKN subsidiary also performed a cabin modification package on another Air Europa A330 aircraft last year.
Since then, the required training, tools and equipment needed to carry out wide body maintenance have been obtained, as well as the required approvals. The MRO company also specifies that further commitments habe been secured.
But Fokker Techniek does not intend to stop there, annoucing that its Woensdrecht facility could also step in into the world of modern composite aircraft in the years to come.
