AFI KLM E&M and GMF AeroAsia waited for the Indonesia Investment Forum 2018 to announce the signature of their strategic partnership agreement. After passing several milestones over the last eighteen months, Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President of AFI KLM E&M, and Iwam Joeniarto, President & CEO of GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facility), signed their agreement on 11th October, in the presence of the president of the Indonesian Republic, Joko Widodo.

In particular, the contract is "designed to develop and improve quality systems" and will strengthen GMF's capabilities in the areas of aircraft support, engines and equipment. The contract therefore remains within the agreement protocol which was concluded in April 2017 and which provided for strengthening of cooperation between the two MRO service providers and which had been expanded in September with the signature of a letter of intent to convert their collaboration into a strategic alliance.

GMF AeroAsia is expecting this partnership to strengthen its customers' trust in the company, thanks to the high quality image presented by the AFI KLM E&M brand. The company hopes to join the MRO Top 10 within three years. AFI KLM E&M wants to strengthen its position in Asia where maintenance service requirements are booming.

Ton Dortmans, the chief executive of KLM E&M, commented: "We have been working closely and successfully with GMF for several years now, so it was natural next step for us to take things up a level and consolidate our partnership. "
