The Bulgarian maintenance center Lufthansa Technik Sofia (LHTS) has just opened a new hangar, becoming one of the most important base maintenance centers in Eastern Europe.
Lufthansa Technik Sofia's facilities can now accommodate 8 A320 or 737 single aisle aircraft simultaneously, its largest capacity outside Germany.
The development of Lufthansa Technik Sofia required an investment of 35 million euros. In operation since 2008, Lufthansa Technik Sofia is owned by Lufthansa Technik AG (75.1%) and Bulgarian Aviation Group (24.9%).
Lufthansa Technik says its new hangar allows it a capacity increase of 60%, equivalent to one million hours of work per year. LHTS will also see its workforce grow by 30% to 1,300 people. |
