AFI KLM E&M has just achieved two major successes in Australia. First of all, the MRO division of Air France-KLM has been selected by Jetstar and Qantas to provide component support for the 787 fleets. Next, the KLM UK Engineering entity has obtained Part 145 approval from the Australian civil aviation safety authority (CASA).
This means that KLM UK Engineering will be able to provide maintenance for aircraft registered in Australia. The company's chief executive, Peter van der Horst, is delighted that his company can now provide its services in this new market. "We already have Part 145 approval from the EASA and the FAA, as well as from several other authorities around the world, so we're very happy to include CASA approval in our extended range of services".
A few days before, Qantas and Jetstar had chosen to entrust components support for the 787 fleets to AFI KLM E&M. The agreement, which was announced on 1st June, covers pool access and repairs and applies to a total fleet of eight 787-9s to be operated by Qantas, and the eleven 787-8s in service with Jetstar.
AFI KLM E&M specifies that it now provides maintenance services for 193 Boeing 787s.
