Cathay Pacific and Honeywell have joined forces in a trial campaign to demonstrate the capabilities offered by advanced maintenance data analytics, using the GoDirect Maintenance Services program of its Connected Aircraft Services portfolio.
These tests were carried out on the Hong Kong airline's Airbus A330-300 fleet, in particular for APU monitoring.
According to Honeywell, using existing datalinks, successful analysis of data from the equipment showed a 35 percent reduction in operational disruptions with a false positive rate of less than 1 percent, saving the airline several hundred thousand dollars in operations and maintenance costs on a single aircraft system.
Cathay Pacific is already exploring how to monitor additional aircraft systems.
Note that a Boeing 757 demonstrator will showcase Honeywell's latest technology, applications and services for connected aircraft during a world tour this summer. The aircraft will be present at the Paris Air Show from 17th to 20th June.
