Liebherr-Aerospace will continue to provide support to ATR in its worldwide maintenance offer. During the MRO Europe exhibition which was held in London from 15th to 17th October, the two companies announced the extension of their cooperation by signing a ten-year contract. Under this contract, Liebherr-Aerospace will provide product support for ATR customers who sign a global maintenance agreement (GMA) for their ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600 fleets. This will cover the new air system developed by the Franco-German company, and the cabin pressurisation system and anti-ice valves which are already present on the aircraft.
The deal covers component supply, repairs and the services associated with these systems. Liebherr-Aerospace is indicating that it will also be providing a predictive maintenance offer "to enhance the support of the aircraft operators, by reducing operational interruptions (OI rate), optimizing the
Line Replaceable Units spares inventory planning, and reinforcing the capabilities in fleet technical management with deeper understanding of the component behavior."
These services will provided under contracts which mirror the GMA signed between ATR and customer airlines. This represents a significant fleet, with over 350 aircraft covered by the Franco-Italian manufacturer of the 550 ATR 42/72-600s currently in service. To meet this major demand, Liebherr-Aerospace will be using its centre of excellence for air systems in Toulouse, alongside its Part 145 services centres in Singapore and Saline (Michigan, United States).
Among the elements covered by this multi-year agreement is the new air system designed by Liebherr-Aerospace. This will be coming into service next year "after two years of development", specifies the equipment manufacturer. They have also said that they will be "develop an advanced algorithm to analyze
data" of this new system.
