PEMCO is launching a new Boeing 737-700 Passenger-to-Full Freighter conversion program. The American company has signed an agreement with Chisholm Enterprises which is becoming the launch customer for the service. The first plane should be entering the PEMCO Conversions facilities at Tampa (Florida) in the second quarter.
PEMCO already knows the platform, for which it proposes a FlexCombi conversion available in three configurations and for which Chisholm Enterprises is also a customer. The "full freighter" version can transport up to 20.4 tonnes of freight (or a volume of 108 m3) thanks to its nine pallet positions (eight 88 x 125 inch pallets or 88 x 108 inch pallets and one smaller one).
The American company has already indicated that it was going to modify the application being examined by the FAA for the award of an STC (supplemental type certificate) for the 737-700FC (FlexCombi) to include the 737-700 Full Freighter in it and smooth over the certification procedure. The application will then be submitted to the EASA and CAAC to obtain European and Chinese certification.
The plane will be operated by Texel Air out of Bahrain airport. The airline runs two 737-300Fs and it waiting for its first 737-700FC from PEMCO.
