Sabena technics has been granted the EMAR 145 (European Military Aviation Requirements) approval from the DSAé (Direction de la Sécurité Aéronautique d'État, the French government's military Aviation safety department) to be able to carry out base maintenance operations for the Airbus A330 MRTT.

According to the French independent MRO company, this approval will enable it to provide quality, customised and profitable airframe solutions to military operators. The heavy maintenance operations on A330 MRTTs will be carried out at its Nîmes and Bordeaux facilities.

Sabena technics also has long-term experience on the A330 family as well as on other types of military aircraft. For example, we can remember the former Air Caraïbes' A330-200 which was modified and fitted out for the French President in 2010.

The French air force currently has two Phénix out of the fifteen models ordered, the last of which are expected in 2023. The MMF pool (Multinational multirole tanker transport fleet) is also due to receive another eight.
