GKN Aerospace's new engine parts repair center in Johor, Malaysia, has just reached an important milestone with the delivery of the first parts of a low pressure compressor for a CFM56. The repaired components were returned to an Asian MRO service provider.

The Johor site employs around 70 people today and is positioned as GKN's repair center for customers based in the Asia Pacific region. The facility will thus complement GKN Aerospace's existing component repair facility in San Diego (California).

The Malaysian repair center will be fully operational in the fourth quarter and will service components of the low pressure compressors (LPC) of the CFM56-5B (A320), CFM56-7B (737NG) and V2500 (A320). It had been approved by the FAA for parts of CFM56 engines last June.
