Collins Aerospace and Lufthansa Technik (LHT) have signed a licence agreement to maintain Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G-JM nacelles (A320neo family).

The American equipment manufacturer will now be providing the Lufthansa group's MRO company with technical information and information about repair processes, OEM-specific tools and access to asset pools to enable it to work directly on this type of equipment.

LHT will also be able to take advantage of Collins Aerospace's eight nacelle repair centres.

Collins Aerospace, which was created by the merger between UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) and Rockwell Collins two years ago, emphasises that over 1100 of its nacelles are already in service on the A320neo family. Remember that Lufthansa was also the airline which launched the A320neo programme.

The American equipment manufacturer had already signed a host of agreements with Lufthansa Technik, with the Germany company being able to work on 787 and A350 nacelles for example.

The Lufthansa group's MRO division has already signed a licence contract with Collins Aerospace Systems at the end of last year for maintenance on the A380's main landing gear, a new capability which should be available from this year from its London-based specialist subsidiary (Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services UK), to meet the needs of EMEA region customers.
