MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive 10-year maintenance contract with Malaysia Airlines Berhad for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of over 100 CFM56-7B engines until the Malaysian flag carrier's 48 Boeing 737-800s are phased out of its fleet.
This contract also covers leased engine and the management of limited lifetime parts (LLP). The inspections and services will be carried out in China by MTU Maintenance Zhuhai.
MTU Maintenance has also indicated that this is the largest contract it has signed for CFM56-7B engines to date.
The Malaysian airline's 737NG engines had been serviced until now by GEESM (GE Engine Services Malaysia), its subsidiary with GE based in Kuala Lumpur. GEESM is now dedicating itself in priority to CFM International LEAP engines |
