While MRO Americas 2018 was taking place from 10th to 12th April in Orlando (Florida), several maintenance contracts were announced for regional aviation. In particular, these announcements came from the manufacturers ATR and Embraer and the MRO company StandardAero.
ATR announced that it had signed a global maintenance agreement (GMA) with Mandarin Airlines, the regional subsidiary of Taiwan's China Airlines, which has purchased six ATR 72-600s and has leased another three. At a cost defined by flying hour, the Franco-Italian manufacturer will be providing repair, overhaul, line replaceable unit (LRU) supply and "door to door" spare parts delivery services. It will also be providing technical and engineering assistance for the airline, as well as the development with French Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) of a training solution for its staff, and finally help to install heavy maintenance capacities in-house at China Airlines.
Still with ATR, StandardAero has signed a three-year agreement with Vietnam Airlines for its fleet of ATR 72-500s. The contract covers the provision of maintenance, repair and overhaul services to Vietnam Air Service Company (VASCO, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines) for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines which power these aircraft. Support will be provided in France, from StandardAero's designated servicing centre (DOF) for the PW100 range, based at Gonesse (Val d'Oise). This centre was integrated with the acquisition of Vector Aerospace from Airbus Helicopters in November 2017.
StandardAero took the opportunity to announce the extension of some of its services in regional aviation. Its turnkey LRU offer for auxiliary power units (APU) now covers the whole Bombardier CRJ range with the integration of the CRJ100/200s. And the MRO company is now proposing engine health management (EHM) services for the CF34s, CFM56s, PW100s, PW150s and PT6s. This skill was also integrated thanks to the acquisition of Vector Aerospace, which has an analysis centre, also located at Gonesse.
Finally, Embraer Services & Support has signed a three-year contract with Hop ! Air France. It covers the repair of nearly 300 components for the French airline's fleet of thirteen ERJ145s. The Brazilian manufacturer also renewed a similar agreement with Regourd Aviation, for six ERJ145s and one Legacy 650. It will cover nearly 700 references for an extra five years.
