The news from GKN Aerospace at MRO Americas was marked by the announcement of a major partnership with Honeywell on 11th April. Its Fokker division, which it acquired in 2015, will provide MRO services for the avionic and mechanical components produced by the American equipment provider.

Interviewed by Le Journal de l'Aviation, Leon Kouters, vice-president Marketing and Sales at Fokker Services Americas, explained that this contract will cover no fewer than 600 references on all types of plane equipped with Honeywell equipment, whether from Fokker, naturally, Airbus or Boeing. Fokker Services will therefore be able to provide Honeywell-approved parts and solutions and will have access to intellectual property for these elements.

These elements will be deployed from its facilities in the Netherlands, the United States and Singapore, which will become Honeywell-approved centres.

The next day, Fokker also signed a long-term contract with UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for on-site support for 10 years. But in this case, it is the American company which will supply spare parts and repair services for the sub-systems produced by UTC electric power systems (EPS) for the GKN Aerospace division.

This contract is accompanied by the establishment of a direct consignment parts store at Fokker's Dutch facility at Schiphol (Amsterdam). UTAS will be responsible for procuring and managing this stock based at its customer's premises.
