AirAsia Group took advantage of the Singapore Airshow last week to conclude several contracts concerning the maintenance of each of its subsidiaries's fleets. An agreement has been confirmed with Airbus to subscribe to its Skywise predictive maintenance solution on the A320 and A330, while current contract covering AirAsia X A330 component support with AFI KLM E&M has been extended.

AirAsia's long-haul subsidiary has decided that this service will be entrusted to Air France-KLM's MRO division until the withdrawal of its entire A330-300 fleet. Twenty-two aircraft are covered but the contract can be extended to new aircraft incorporating the fleet. Services include component repair, access to the spare parts pool and associated logistics.

Regarding the Airbus Skywise service, it has a validity of five years and provides the FOMAX data recording and transmission module for the entire fleet. The agreement covers 230 aircraft, A320 and A330, operating from Malaysia, Thailand, India, Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia. In addition, the 470 aircraft in the order book (66 A330neo and more than 400 A320 / 321neo) will be configured to take advantage of the predictive maintenance service. In addition, AirAsia will continue to benefit from the cloud-based platform Skywise Core.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia Group, summarizes: "We look forward to unleashing the power of Skywise technology to take advantage of the unique capabilities of AirAsia's entire A320 and A330 fleet. SkyWise will enable us to reach new perspectives for the operation of our aircraft, optimize our maintenance, engineering, decision making for our operations and reduce our costs. "

In order to improve its vision of its operations, AirAsia Group has also signed a contract with GE Aviation to equip 355 aircraft (A320 and A330) and provide its 4000 flight crews with the eFOQA (electronic Flight Operations Quality Assurance) and the FlightPulse mobile application from 2018. The eFOQA service provides access to new data generated by the aircraft and its systems and combines them with a proprietary management and analysis technology for a better understanding of operations. As for the FlightPulse, it gives access to new information in a very visual way, for example fuel consumption at each stage of the flight.
