The costs of of French military MRO should see a slight drop in 2017, while targets for 2018 and 2019 are forecasting a rise in "programmed maintenance for aviation equipment" expenses for the 178 program, which covers all "force preparation and usage" actions.
While the 2017 forecast for the transitional average cost of the aviation MRO function per flying hour was initially calculated at 10 706EUR, the update is forecasting 11 603EUR, even if this figure is not really significant given the difference in the fleets concerned. All the same, it should be noted that the 2017 target for the 2015 PLF forecast a cost of 9 700EUR. As for the 2018 target, it is set at 12 016EUR and climbs to 12 331EUR for 2019.
The annual performance plan explains the updated MOC spending increase by "the increased influence" of A400M, Tigre and NH90 type equipment, but also by "more frequent breakdowns and longer preventive maintenance operations" for older equipment such as the Gazelle or Mirage 2000, while taking account of the "increased activity and high spares consumption" due to external operations.
When it comes to the perspectives, the 2018 budget is setting store on the withdrawal from active service of old generation equipment and the technical maturity of new aircraft in order to lower equipment maintenance costs. |
