The Netherlands should be equipped with an F135 engine test bench by 2019 to be able to carry out tests on Lockheed Martin's F-35 and its MOC. The Woensdrecht site will also act as a maintenance "logistics centre".
Last November, the United States had confirmed that the MCO European hub for managing Pratt & Whitney engines would be based in Turkey, with the Netherlands and Norway from 2020-2021.
The European hub for cells will be based in Italy, with possible back-up in Great Britain.
