Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) has just won a new long-term maintenance contract for A350 components support. The contract is from Fiji Airways, which in mid-November had just received its first A350-900 of the two it is leasing from DAE.

The Fijian airline will benefit from the dedicated services of Air France-KLM' MRO division for component repairs, logistical services and, of course, access to spare parts via the Main Base Kit and a pool of parts.

"Fiji Airways is joining a vast community of customers who've entrusted AFI KLM E&M with components support for their A350 fleets. Our group designs tailor-made solutions for this ultra-modern aircraft, with targeted innovation to ensure our maintenance services remain at the forefront of efficiency and reliability" declared Fabrice Defrance, SVP Commercial at AFI KLM E&M.

Fiji Airways' A350s will mainly fly to Sydney and Los Angeles, but from time to time should also cover flights operated regularly by its A330s, such as Singapore, Hong Kong or Tokyo. AFI KLM E&M has also been providing component maintenance for Fiji Airways A330s (6 aircraft) since 2013.

This new contract strengthens the position of AFI KLM E&M on the latest generation of Airbus wide-body aircraft, the airline MRO having developed this capability long before the A350 joined the Air France fleet in September.

Component support is now being provided by AFI KLM E&M for a total of nearly 170 Airbus A350s operated by Delta Air Lines, three Chinese airlines including Sichuan Airlines and China Eastern, Thai Airways, Air Caraïbes and Virgin Atlantic.
