Jet Aviation (General Dynamics) had to lay off about 200 employees working at its Basel-Mulhouse facility. The restructuring will result in at least 190 job cuts, out of an overstaffed estimated at 240 people.

Redundancies had to be effective before the end of June.

In may of this year, Jet Aviation Basel announced that it planned to reduce its workforce by several hundred people at its Basel-Mulhouse facility in response to the collapse of its activities linked to the corona pandemic. The MRO and completion center employs nearly 1,200 people at the EuroAirport, the vast majority of whom are French.

As it stands, the "redundancies" plan does not comply with French rules on social plans, but it is French law that applies because the airport is located on French territory.

Jet Aviation is one of the companies in the commonly called "Swiss" sector of EuroAirport because it applies tax and social rules inspired by Swiss law. This sector is the subject of a Franco-Swiss "method agreement" of 2012 which provides for legal adjustments taking account of this practice.
