ATR has managed to improve the availability of its planes even more. On 25th February, the aircraft manufacturer announced that it had obtained EASA certification enabling it to extend the intervals between Type A maintenance checks. These inspections, which are currently at 500 hours, now increase to 750 hours.

ATR estimates that airlines which operate twin-engined turboprop aircraft - as all series which are covered by this certification - will save one day's operation every 1 500 flying hours thanks to the elimination of every third inspection.

The aircraft manufacturer is constantly working to improve the maintenance policies for its planes, which is helping to make them more effective and improve their interest for airlines.

Tom Anderson, ATR's SVP Programs and Customer Services, indicates that this attention to support will go further. "The next step is now to target an escalation of the C Checks to provide even more value."
