The American subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters has awarded a logistical support contract to Safran Electronics & Defence Avionics Inc. for a five-year period.
Airbus Helicopters Inc. had been selected by the US Army for the logistical support contract last December, making Safran the direct maintenance provider for the US Army and National Guard's UH-72A Lakota, as the single supplier for the autopilot system.
The US Army has a fleet of 349 Lakotas, derived from the EC145. They replace the National Guard's OH-58s and UH-1s and the US Army's UH-60s in domestic security and medical evacuation missions.
