GMF AeroAsia wants to set up in Batam

GMF AeroAsia, the MRO subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Batam Industrial Development Authority (BP Batam) to be able to use Hang Nadim International Airport as a new MRO centre.

The island of Batam is located just 15 kilometres from Singapore. The construction of a new hangar is already underway and should be completed in the second half of 2017 with the aim of being totally operational in the second half of 2018.

For GMF AeroAsia, using BP Batam's land to create a new MRO centre is in line with its objective of being among the Top 10 MROs in The World by 2020. Batam airport already houses the MRO facilities of Batam Aero Technic (BAT), a subsidiary of Lion Air group.
